Stewardship
The Bitcoin Custody Standard is maintained by the Bitcoin Custody Standard Initiative. The Initiative is responsible for the development, publication, and ongoing maintenance of all normative and benchmark documents.
Versioning
All BCS documents are versioned. Version numbers reflect controlled updates to the framework. Minor version changes reflect clarifications or refinements, while major version changes reflect substantive updates to the model or structure.
Review Cycle
The standard is subject to periodic review. Each document includes a scheduled review date. Reviews assess the continued validity of the framework and incorporate necessary updates.
Change Control
All updates to the standard are managed under a controlled revision process. Changes are incorporated through new versions of the documents. Previous versions remain part of the historical record.
Document Classification
Normative documents define the principles, definitions, and evaluation framework of the Bitcoin Custody Standard. Benchmark reports and research publications apply and extend the framework.
